I believe that we are living in the "total screen" age, a world in which reality has been substituted by its image.
I feel that my painting, as a form of expression, is capable of breaking the monotony of the flat plane that distinguishes the screen age, and allow the viewer to actually enter the piece.
My works do not copy any other reality - they are real, and, as such, serve as a perfect counterpoint to our current reality.
Further, by both process and materials, I hope to comment on contemporary issues. I often strip down and reconstruct my canvases expanding with diverse materials, or will incorporate photography into my compositions to access certain world representations that we face today.
The Artwork I'm presenting at Agora is part of a Series named "Essences of the Feminine. Deconstructing the Patriarchal Myths About Women." Essences of the Feminine begins by stripping the canvas bare in an act of Deconstruction, freeing itself of any prejudices, preconceived forms or scraps.
