If you are in your twenties and a recovering alcoholic, what else can you do to get “messy”? Instead of shoving my emotions down to the pit of my stomach, I throw paint. Paint lets me explore this world inside me that I've never been able to balance or even understand. As a result, my work is a combination of chaos and order. My multi-piece paintings are meticulously designed and measured, but when it comes to painting, I am completely free. I pour, splatter, drip, spray; I do what I feel in the moment. Although structured, the panels can be arranged and spaced out in different ways, creating a unique experience each time. No matter the composition however, the work captures my very essence, embodying the strength and resilience I am finding along the way.
