After graduating from the Parsons School of Design with a BFA in illustration, I worked on staff at Cuisine Magazine/CBS Publications, and then as a print designer for children's apparel manufacturers such as Gitano, Carters and Health Tex. I also freelanced as a magazine illustrator for many years. Enjoying the freedom from the constraints of commercial art, I began exploring contemporary art by creating abstract canvases. With a particular affinity for the abstract work popular in the sixties, I have created a unique and on trend look.
Originally aimed at the interior design market, my artwork has evolved into a more personal abstract expressionism. Music is especially crucial to my art as I try to show the energy from songs that I love in each piece. I have been exploring mixed media collage in combination with abstract painting, leading me to return to my illustrative roots. The first collage series depicts musical icons important to me, or my two children. In the second series, I touch upon more political statements. Through the collage technique I find it possible to convey personal points of view, both positive and negative.
