Increasingly, I find that the only way to organize the chaos omnipresent in the world as well as in my head is to put layer upon layer of color onto canvas. The combinations I create in order to process the chaos do not always make sense, and some turn out to be downright ugly, but eventually an order forms on the canvas. The layers blend into a whole that expresses a feeling about a distinct moment in time. In this way, a moment, however disorderly, becomes structured, organized, and permanent in my work.
