My current work strives to capture the complexity of my subjects, whether human or landscape, and draw out the deeper humanity in a given moment. My goal is to arrest the emotion, beauty, simplicity and joy in an experience, a moment, or human face, and share that with my viewers. My portraits are often playful and cheeky, as I often find humor and joy often to be the most interesting parts of our humanity. I find great enjoyment in sitting in stillness with an emotion that I am portraying and allowing it to live past its fleeting moment.Â
Experimentation is a vital part of my thought process and in the execution of most of my pieces. I meticulously manipulate the colors and shapes I am using in each painting, using brushwork, adding textures, and profusely molding the outcome of each piece. I paint both digitally and traditionally, which allows me certain freedom with the outcome of each piece.
