I have a strong fascination with how human emotions are conveyed through facial expressions. The subjects of my paintings come from real-life encounters or images of people I find in newspapers, magazines, or videos. What draws me to them is the story I discover when I look into their eyes. It could be a message of liberation, resilience, suffering, or simply beauty. I convey the intensity of their feelings through chiaroscuro and a predominantly dark palette; as if their face and body glistened in the moonlight in the dead of the night. I paint primarily in oils, although I also incorporate materials like textiles or sand, which I collect in Gothenburg, on the shores of the North Sea. When I paint I am fearless. I set no boundaries and use no filters. I show that true strength is rooted in vulnerability and courage.
