I translate my colorful view of nature and spirituality into humorous vignettes portraying goofy characters and lush natural environments. Drawing from my background as an arts and crafts teacher, I follow the creative impulse intuitively and freely, moving the paint around with my fingers, a spatula, or a piece of paper. In the spirit of experimentation, I sometimes use my non-dominant hand and a combination of acrylics, oil pastels, and inks on canvas and rough cardboard. For me art is an expression of body and mind. As such, the result may not be immediately obvious to the viewers. However, what is important to me is that, regardless of the perceived imagery, each person feels uplifted in their experience of the work.
