Through her compelling surrealistic works, Italian artist Veronica Ghio explores human nature and the hidden world of feeling. It is these intangible emotions that form the subtext of her work, brought to life by her use of composition, color, and form. Her canvases are dominated by warm hues such as ocher and sienna, which to Ghio are the colors of our souls. In many of her works, the artist merges the power of words with the energetic force of her visual displays, using her poetry to inspire her painting and then transcribing that poem on the back of the canvas. To her, painting helps the abstract concepts contained in her verse come to life. “For me, it’s very important that painting points out the hidden world that the eyes can’t see . . . to make it visible/tangible.” This is what Ghio’s work offers us, an exploration of the unseen world of the human soul.
Although she has painted all over the world, Ghio currently divides her time between Paris and Saint Tropez.
