Sisa Jasper’s gentle abstractions have an understated energy. The marks have a life of there own, moving across the panels and canvas as if going somewhere decidedly but in no great hurry. Jasper handles oil and acrylic expertly, creating a resonant dialogue between opacity and translucence. At times her paintings recede into light washes of color; at other times, they expand into heavy pools. The quietude and kinesthesia of Jasper’s work reflects her intuitive, call and response process. She paints what she feels and her personal rapport with her work allows her to travel through her paintings, making decisions that, because of their tender intimacy, are meant to be emotionally stirring to viewers.
After winning awards as a child artist, Sisa Jasper took a decade-long sabbatical from art-making. Since returning to painting in 1999, she has become an avid experimenter, exploring new techniques and mediums. Her work has appeared in films, including P.S. I love you and Shopaholic and her paintings have been collected by a number of individuals and companies. She lives and works in Dallas Texas
