Combining classically crafted imagery with the freedom of modern abstraction, SILBEN creates a sensually metaphoric opera of intimacy and spirit. Her drawings bear a Renaissance-inspired mastery in their precision, while her brushstrokes are purely and passionately contemporary. As she works, SILBEN moves fluidly between mediums, utilizing oil and tempera paints, mixed media and graphite on panel, canvas and paper. The artist calls her process the “New Collage Technique,” and it is unusual in the way it instinctively brings together fragmented images of figures and circling fish with a boldly gestural disintegration and delicate layering of transparency. “I feel, I feel, I feel,” SILBEN explains. “Every emotion comes to me naturally. The work was conceived and raised like a flash, like a dream which passes quickly through the mind.”
Born in Verona, Italy, SILBEN excelled in her academic studies, graduating with advanced degrees in Architecture, Art History, Contemporary Art, and Teaching. She continues to study at the Fine Arts Academy in Verona in addition to teaching Art and Design in local schools.
