When I create artworks, I connect with my own inner “divinity” and light. This enables me to best sense, witness and connect with core energies in all things abounding.
In a meditative state, I gather images while “surfing with the wavebands” and that is where I live, gathering sensations of our changing human mythologies. I’m a space cowgirl, an explorer, gaining a surreal or more then real vision to express.
Dragonflies frequently appear in my work. They pre-date dinosaurs, having lived on our planet for 325 million years. While their iridescence is stunning, for me, they are a metaphor for the very old, reptilian, primitive portions of our brains, whose rigidity and compulsiveness have often led to our demise. Although, the Dalai Lama and Neuroscientists have concluded that our brains have neuroplasticity in response to meditation and experiences, a prior “programing” often overrides our conscious wishes. I want to convey to my audience that there is always room for evolving and "upgrading".
