As Penelope Paige creates her trailing swirls and drips of paint, she pours onto the canvas not only pigments but her heart and soul. One senses complexity and pain in the rippling chaos, together with a powerful ecstasy and joy expressed through the explosions of color. Paige's abstractions in oil paints on canvas speak in the language of the subconscious, living purely within the moment of their creation as they draw together the memories and influences of her life. “My art is a visual expression of my immediate feeling,” explains the artist. Following the sudden death of her husband in 2009, Paige felt a strong drive to express her emotions artistically and began her studies with the Swarez Contemporary Art Studio in the U.K.
Born in Alexandria, VA and now living in Watertown, NY where she is pursuing her PhD in psychology, Penelope Paige has made a significant debut in the art world with works appearing in many permanent collections and exhibitions.
