Nick Arciero

My influences are many. They range from mathematical theory to Ancient Japanese culture and Ink washes, Aztec art and culture, music, social interaction and the urban/industrial cities and areas where I have lived. My painting technique is based on that of the Japanese ink wash artists. Painting sumi ink directly onto rice paper is very difficult, because there is zero forgiveness with this style - once the brush touches the paper it's there for good. Each brushstroke has to have strong intent.
I've always like being in the midst of things and learning or experiencing something new. It all finds its way into my art consciously or subconsciously. My favorite aspect of art is that it's impossible to conquer and imagination is infinite! My fine art is the one area where everything I've loved, learned or experienced in life has the ability to come through unfiltered in my vision – It's where I feel the most free.
