Italian artist Lisa Londi expresses her own unique concept of femininity through images of women both strong and determined yet elegant and graceful. Her detailed figurative paintings convey all the power and emotions lying behind the female face and body, giving the viewer a glimpse of the soul. Inspired by Parisian sensibilities both past and present, her figures are set in a variety of contexts that recall the city’s fascinating artistic influence through time. But what makes her work so compelling is the mesmerizing gaze cast by each of her subjects, simultaneously playful yet intense and provocative.
Masterfully combining sober and delicate colors and shades, Londi uses acrylic, silver foil, and crayon to create a look in which the paintings appear to have been aged by time. Thus, she is able to re-imagine the stories of her characters through the lens of the passage of time that characterizes our history, and transmit, through a face, the enduring soulful power and feeling that again and again come to define the feminine.
