In her broad, sweeping coastal landscapes of sea and sky, Kylie Rusk brings to life Aotearoa, the “land of the long white cloud,” New Zealand. Traveling deep throughout the scenic countryside and shorelines of her homeland, Rusk photographs panoramic scenes which are then joined together and replicated in paints and prints back in her studio. Her large scale works are expansive and emotionally expressive, capturing a sense of the region’s isolated and ever-changing beauty and wonder as she envelops viewers within the passion of her vision. Working in lithograph prints and acrylic and mixed media on canvas board, occasionally with added silkscreen elements, Rusk brings a freedom to her use of color, texture, and line, discovering visions and memories of the sublime.
Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Kylie Rusk received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the Elam School of Fine Arts, winning the Hanamule printmaking award and exhibiting widely in solo and group exhibitions in recent years.
