Kaileigh Osarczuk says that her work “takes a new spin on the approach of a landscape painting,” and to some viewers her bold acrylic on canvas works might not look like landscapes at all. Referring to several of her paintings as “Innerplaces,” Osarczuk’s stated goal is to let her pictures “become the subconscious places I enter while working.” While the details of a tree branch or a sky may be apparent, her work often turns the elements of the outside world into an abstract swirl of color patterns. But those paintings also have a strong sense of movement and three-dimensional space. Their vibrantly physical presence has its roots in her skill at juxtaposing light and darkness, as well as her ability to work through all of the tonalities that a particular color palette has to offer.
Having recently graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz, Kaileigh Osarczuk brings a vivid freshness to her work that gives its impressionistic subject material a real sense of power.
