Elisa Grion

Using oil on canvas to fashion impressionistic renderings of quotidian daily life, Elisa Grion’s muted, lush compositions evoke a sense of longing, formal simplicity and spacio-temporal dislocation. Possessing a refined skill for texture and coloration, Grion chooses to adopt a brush and palette knife process to achieve a ‘layering’ effect whereby painterly forms generate out of adjacent color planes. Loosely based on photographs, these characteristically evocative and texturally vivid figures emerge to the fore against train stations, parks, shops, outdoor markets and their ilk, offering an intriguing, appealing snapshot of the artist’s community in transit, at work or at rest. Nameless figures rendered in Grion’s expressive, soft palette shed the minutia of subjective singularity and speak to the unity of collective experience.

Elisa Grion has exhibited her work in South America and Europe. She studied painting at the Asociación Amigos del Museo de Bellas Artes and the Fundación Guillermo Roux, as well as with artists Jose Marchi and Eduardo Faradje. 		Elisa Grion
