A lifelong, passionate admirer of nature, watercolorist Donna Bonin teases out the wondrous, enchanting characteristics inherent in the sparkle of flower petals or glitter of robust rocks and transforms them into vivacious essence. Saturated washes of vibrant pastels and primary hues permeate Bonin’s works, and her dexterity as a draftsmen shines throughout her composition. The artist’s brushwork is patient and smooth, yet vibrantly malleable, as if she is calmly waiting for her subjects to become themselves within her works in an almost magical transformation. “ I see beauty, tranquility, and excitement in nature and in the places I have traveled,” says Bonin. “It is my desire to convey these feelings to my viewers – to give them a sense of inner peace and hope. Most of all I want my viewers to see color as an essential part of a vibrant life.” Indeed, color is fluidly organic in these delightful works, pulsating in emotional bravura.
Native to Canada, Donna Bonin has travelled throughout the world in search of diverse and dynamic subjects.
