Diego Quintavalle paints large-scale geomorphic abstractions in acrylic and collage. Highly diverse in texture, this body of work characterizes the artist’s viscerally topographic style, ever alluding to the magnanimity of organic earth formations such as ice, rock, water, sun, moon and asteroid. Craggy rubble, windswept celestial terrain and chaos theory meet blinding radial outgrowths emerging from these richly hued and engagingly geometric compositions on glass or canvas. Producing textures with paint that verge on the sculptural, Quintavalle’s unique methods of collage includes the use of materials such as cardboard, sand, stones, metal and liquid glass. Informed by his professional training in graphic, digital and textile design, Quintavalle’s kaleidoscopic visions demonstrate his serious devotion to the insights afforded by our everyday contact with matter.
Diego Quintavalle was born in 1968 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he currently lives and works. He studied drawing, painting and sculpture at the studio of the artist Elsa La Carra.
