Press Release

The bold lines and striking colors of Tyice Natasha's works describe a structure in which the viewer's imagination has room to play. Abstract interpretations such as "A Canvas Waiting For Its Painter," "Fragments II" and "The Grand Façade" engage the eye and the intellect with deliberate line placement, without obscuring and unnecessary detail. The work retains a true naivete like the genuine questioning and delight of a child. Her educational background in Political Science and Latin American/Caribbean Studies infuses her creations with a tensile filament of political and multi-cultural awareness. The largest selection of Natasha's body of work was created while the artist taught English in Japan. She had no prior formal training, but was further encouraged with the promise of an exhibition if she could make 100 works in one year. She met the challenge and has continued to view herself as an artist.
