Marty Maehr’s work is ripe with quiet revelation. Inspired by philosophers and progressive ideas, his work brilliantly tackles and illustrates life’s many mysteries and man’s most complex questions. His vibrant images accomplish what his muses could not with rhetoric alone. While his work speaks volumes, his artistic technique inspires and engages as he portrays the earth and its splendor through the eyes of a transcendentalist.
Using oil on masonite, and oil on canvas, Maehr’s paintings are divinely enchanting. His dramatic uses of color and often mosaic-like patterns, conjure images of magnificent stained glass found in the windows of cathedrals, creating an enchanting affect. Although undeniably beautiful, Maehr’s work reaches beyond the realm of decorative arts, inspiring deep contemplation and forging a spiritual connection with the viewer. Although he took his first art class at the age of seven, Marty Maehr is primarily self-taught. He currently lives in Ann Arbor where he continues to hone his craft and refine his technique.
