Press Release

The sentiment behind an object can sometimes be more important than the object itself—at least that is the case Gloria S. Ferreira makes with her archival digital prints.   Her abstract renditions of everyday entities and occurrences highlight the very qualities that make them beautiful.  Whether exhibiting a butterfly, a cactus, or the wind, Ferreira is attuned to the soul of the object more than just its physical reality.  Therefore, she picks colors, shapes, and patterns to enhance the inner magnificence of different aspects of nature. Ferreira frequently changes her style to create the mood of each piece.  When showing the fierceness of Mother Nature she does so with a frenzied splattering of paint, reminiscent of the work of Jackson Pollock, but when recalling life’s quieter moments she uses a mirage-like blending of pastels more akin to Claude Monet’s style.

Gloria S. Ferreira was born in the heart of Bluegrass Country—Georgetown, Kentucky.  In 2003 she graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. In addition to her fine art, she works as a graphic artist.
