Working in the oil medium, C. Drummond creates vividly colorful paintings depicting the activities of everyday people within lush, natural surroundings. Her work is lively and cheerful. "I really want people to feel good when they own one of my paintings" she says, and Drummond conveys this intention through her animated brush strokes, creating rich, exotic scenes. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and going on to live in France, Drummond's origins and inspirations are reflected within her village scenes and the communal interactions of her figures.
Common themes within her paintings are work and cooperation, socialization, and recreation. There is a certain sense of peace, harmony, and balance between the figures in her paintings and their natural surroundings, and one can imagine their causal conversations. "When I paint village scenes, it is as if I am telling a story. I imagine the way the people are living and what they are saying to each other. However, when I paint the sea, I feel the spray, the speed of the wind and hear the splashing of the waves." Drummond expresses these sensations with a style that is increasingly impressionistic. One is drawn to focus on the intricate pigmentation of her canvas; hyper-colorful and very energetic. C. Drummond has exhibited her work in the United States and France.
