Press Release

Magic is found when one spots a spark of the extraordinary hidden within the mundane. This is the gift that artist Cariappa Annaiah shares with the world, a talent for finding that which is hidden in plain view and bringing it forth to our attention and wonder. Self taught, Cariappa a native of Bangalore, India recently received US citizenship and currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. He is an artist member of the Copley Society of Art in Boston, and has exhibited there, with one of his pieces winning an award. At the 2007 International Photography Awards Competition three of his works received honorable mention.

Preferring basic digital techniques to the modern manipulation tools available today, Cariappa embraces simplicity in the art of photography. His tools are the camera and the digital dark room, and between the two he creates images that are both haunting and thought provoking. A moment captured, a moment shared, this is the simple, yet magnificent beauty of his work.
